As of November 8 Friday, super typhoon Yolanda struck Visayas particularly in Tacloban City destroying some of the vital infrastructures including the Telecommunications companies.
Telecommunication sites plays a major role for the reason that some members of the family are far away from them and want to reach them out after the wrath of Yolanda.
This horrifying and tragic incident brought a lot of destruction that give a terrible impact to the lives of Tacloban people, but despite of that Telecommunications companies are doing their best to set up the cell sites as soon as possible.
On Sunday November 10 Globe Telecom as well as Smart Communications, said that they have set up cell sites in Tacloban City which was badly hit by typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan), as they work on restoring network services in Visayas.
In an interview, Globe said they set up one temporary cell site near Hotel Alejandro along Paterno St. in Tacloban to serve “critical communication requirements of the local government units and agencies involved in disaster response and coordination efforts.”

In Visayas, company said they close to 20% of its cell sites that have been restored, including 26 sites from Calbayog in Samar to northern Samar.
Report said that there were 471 sites or at least 30% affected sites in southern Luzon and Mindanao have been repaired.
