Typhoon Zoraida Signals Raised in Mindanao (Hourly Update)

PAGASA reported that a new typhoon entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at around 4:00 AM of November 11, 2013, less than two days after Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) exited the PAR.

According to Japan Meteorological Agency’s update at around 3:25 AM, the tropical depression was moving northwest at 30 kph. PAGASA weather forecasters on their part stated that the Tropical Depression Zorayda was 950 km southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and packed maximum winds of 55 kph and moving at 28 kph.

DOST PAGASA

Based upon PAGASA forecasts released at around 5:00 AM, they forecasted Zoraida to be 400 km southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur by Tuesday morning, and near Tagbilaran City by Wednesday morning. By Thursday morning it is expected to at 170 km west of Coron, Palawan.

PAGASA also raised storm signal (NO. 1) in the following areas:

  • Dinagat Island,
  • Siargao Island,
  • Agusan del Norte,
  • Agusan del Sur,
  • Davao del Norte,
  • Surigao del Sur, and
  • Davao Oriental
