Although Jeric failed to make it to the first round of the PBA draft pick, his entire family, headed by his Father Alvin and younger brother Jeron were still elated that Jeric ended up beign drafted by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters with the 12th overall selection.

The father of Jeric, Alvin “The Robocop” Teng was so happy with his son’s achievement of fulfilling his dreams of playing in the PBA. Alvin Teng made a name for himself in the first professional basketball game in Asia as a defensive specialist during his glory days with San Miguel Beer.

Jeric Teng joins Rain or Shine with fellow Xavier star alumni Chris Tiu and TY Tang. Xavier School also produces UAAP stars such as the younger brother of Jeric Teng, current De La Salle Archers Finals MVP Jeron Teng.

Right after the draft, the entire Teng Family came over to thank Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao for drafting Jeric Teng. Coach Guiao replied with a joke that, he’d also be open to taking the highly-touted Jeron Teng in the draft in the near future.

The veteran coach Yeng Guiao was quoted as saying, “Kung bumagsak siya sa amin (Jeric), kukunin ko rin si Jeron,” Yeng Guiao said.
