La Salle Defeated UP Maroons 85-63 Wins Three Straight Games

The De La Salle Green Archers defeated the winless UP Fighting Maroons with the final score at 85-63 and secured their third straight win of the UAAP Season 76 on Saturday, August 24 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

During the fourth quarter the Green Archers dominated the fourth quarter with a 31-7 run and dropped down the winless Maroons under their new coach Rey Madrid, debuting for the University of the Philippines. La Salle improve their record with a 6-4 win-loss card against the 0-9 record of UP.

La Salle started slow and was trailing behind by 7 points at 42-35 at the end of the first half because of the buzzer-beating three-pointer made by UP’s Martin Pascual. During the third quarter La Salle took the lead at 68-56 through their team effort scoring 7 unanswered points, a three-point play by Van Opstal, an easy lay-up for Perkings and a fastbreak bucket from Jarelan Tampus.

Jason Perkins topscored for La Salle with 19 points while Henry Asilum led the Fighting Maroons with 18 points.
