UAAP Secretary-Treasurer Malou Isip announced on Tuesday that the UAAP Season 76 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Games scheduled for Wednesday, August 21 have been cancelled due to inclement weather.
She was quoted as saying that, “Due to the continuous rain and flood around the Metro, we are cancelling the UAAP Basketball Men and Women’s games tomorrow,” Isip said in a statement Tuesday.
Games cancelled were the seniors games between the University of the East vs. University of the Philippines; and the Ateneo de Manila University vs. University of Sto. Tomas. The women’s games were: De La Salle vs. University of the East; and Adamson vs. Ateneo de Manila.
According to the UAAP, all games were supposed to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena, both games will be re-scheduled at a later date, and fans are advised to keep their tickets.
In an advisory issued 7:30 am, PAGASA said heavy to torrential rains are affecting Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Zambales, Cavite, Bataan, Pampanga and Occidental Mindoro. The agency also warned that severe flooding is expected.
