The Philippine Azkals recorded their all time highest rank at no. 143 last November but right now the Philippines went up by three places from 144 rank last month to a 141 rank in the latest FIFA rankings released this afternoon for the August ranking.
The 141st rank of the Philippines is the highest-ever recorded for the Philippines since the inception of FIFA worldwide rankings. The Philippine rise of rankings have contributed with several countries dropping in positions such as St. Lucia (142), Belize (143) and Syria (147).
Asean Football Federation top-ranked team, Thailand, remained at the top, ranked 137th. The Philippines next (–foul word(s) removed–)ignment as part of an international friendly, the Indonesian team is currently ranked at 169th.
According to FIFA website, the Philippine men’s football team more popularly known as the Azkals, got a big lift from its 1-0 win over Hong Kong early in June 2013.
