KC Concepcion played the role of Filipino superhero Darna during the opening number of “ASAP 18”, ABS-CBN’s hottest variety show on Sunday, July 28, 2013.
The “Kontrabida” of “Muling Buksan ang Puso,” KC Concepcion first appeared on ASAP 18 stage as an ordinary woman, who turned out to be portraying Narda. She was separated from a boy, portraying Narda’s brother, Ding.
KC Concepcion then delivered the immortal line, “Ding, and bato!” and emerged in Darna’s iconic red costume. The 28-year-old KC then turned into Darna and had a “fight scene” with a red-haired villain costume portrayed by Iya Villania.
The appearance of KC Concepcion as Darna made an online buzz that she will be performing the iconic role of Darna in the highly-anticipated series to be aired on ABS-CBN.
The Kapamilya Channel recently acquired the exclusive rights to “Darna,” one of the most popular works of Filipino comic icon, Mars Ravelo. The station has yet to announce who will portray the much-coveted role as Pinay superhero. According to some rumors, KC Concepcion, Angel Locsin, Cristine Reyes, Sarah G, and Jessy Mendiola have been considered by many as potential artists that fits the role of Darna.
