July 22 SONA Class Suspension in Quezon City

The Quezon City Government have already declared that all Elementary and High School Classes on Monday, July 22, 2013 will be suspended. The President of the Philippines, Pres. Aquino will deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa.

Although the City Government have already declared “No Classes,” the local government has left it to School Administrators and the Commission on Higher Education to decide whether to suspend classes in colleges and universities as well.

This coming Monday, July 22, the President will face both members of the Upper and Lower House for the annual SONA to be delivered by the President himself. The SONA will be shown nationwide on live TV during the opening of the 16th Congress.

According to Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista the suspension of classes in Quezon City is a safety measure for the students, and to minimize traffic congestion in the vicinity of the Batasang Pambansa during the 4th SONA of the President.

The classes at the Quezon City Polytechnic University’s (QCPU) in Batasan will be suspended on Monday, according to QCPU Vice President for administration Melanie Pisig.
