The National University (NU) Bulldogs succeeded in defeating the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons during the first match-up of UAAP Season 76 Sunday held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The game ended with the final score at 74-60 in favor of the Bulldogs.
The Fighting Maroons had a dismal fourth quarter performance scoring only at 3:41 mark in the final period by courtesy of Raul Soyud who converted a lay-up that made the score at 52-66 with the Bulldogs leading and dominating the final period of the game.
Parks finished with a game-high 18 points, 14 of them coming from the free throw line. Mbe (15 points), Alolino (12 points) and Rosario (10 points) also finished in double-digits for NU. As a team, the Bulldogs made 30 of their 40 attempts from the free throw line. UP made only 9-of-15 charities.
UP’s Sam Marata topscored for the Fighting Maroons pouring out 14 points, while Kyles Lao added 11 points and Raul Soyud contributed 10 points and 20 rebounds. With the Bulldogs win, they are now tied with the UST Growling Tigers in second place with a 3-1 record behind league-leading team FEU who has 4-0 win-loss card.
