Bagyong “Huaning” Intensifies to Enter Philippines on Wednesday

Tropical Cyclone “Soulik” is seen closer to the Philippine area of responsibility and intensified into a typhoon. Once it entered the Philippines, it will be named as “Huaning” according to PAGASA.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration observed cyclone “Soulik” at 1,680 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes outside the boundary of the Philippine Area of responsibility.

Cyclone Soulik (international name) is packed with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 150 kph. The typhoon Huaning was forecast to entery the country on Wednesday morning and would exit early morning of Saturday towards Taiwan forecasts models showed.

The typhoon was not expected to hit land but would enhance the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said, adding that rains in the western part of the country would be experienced starting Thursday afternoon.
