Top 5 Absentee Senators & Attendance During the 15th Congress

During the 15th Congress of the Philippines, there are senators who topped the list of absentee members. According to the Senate Journal, of the 214 session days from July 26, 2010 to June 6, 2013, the top absentee senators were, Trillanes, Lacson, Pimentel III, Zubiri and Santiago.

For the 214 total days of sessions during the 15th Congress, Sen, Antonio Trillanes IV attended only 135 days, Senator Lacson 131; Senator Koko Pimentel 102; Senator Zubiri 98 days; and Sen. Santiago with 94 days.

The absences of Pimentel and Zubiri were understandable as Pimentel took over Zubiri’s slot after the latter resigned in August 2011. On Mirriam’s part she regularly excused herself due to her health situation, citing hypertension and other ailments.

Senator Trillanes also excused himself from his legislative work for 17 days in 2012 when the Palace allegedly sent him to China to do a back-channeling work over the territorial disputes between China and the Philippines.

The only Senator who made a perfect attendance for 214 days is resigned Majority Leader Senator Vicente Sotto III.
