The President of the Republic, President Benigno Aquino III has signed into law punishing violators of the Republic Act (R.A.) 10515. The act was signed last Wednesday.
The RA 10515 penalizes the act of intercepting or receiving any signal offered over a cable television system or a cable internet system obtained through tapping. The act which is now a Law is also known as the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
The offenders my face imprisonment of not less than two years but not more than five years or a fine of not less than P50,000 nor more than P100,000 or both. According to the law when the offender is a corporation or (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation, the President, manager or any officer of that entity will be penalized.
