The former majority party in the Philippines during the terms of President Fidel V. Ramos, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) have already revealed their supports to a total of 6 senatorial candidates.
The party which was led by Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. decided to support the senatorial bids of 4 candidates from the opposition party UNA (United Nationalist Alliance and 2 candidates from Team PNoy.
The Lakas-CMB endorse the 6 senatorial candidates during an executive meeting in Makati on Wednesday, April 10.
Here’s the list of Lakas-endorsed Senatorials bets:
- San Juan Rep JV Ejercito (UNA);
- Cagayan Rep Jack Enrile (UNA);
- Zambales Rep Mitos Magsaysay (UNA);
- Sen Gringo Honasan (UNA);
- Aurora Rep Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara (Team PNoy);
- Former censors chief Grace Poe (Team PNoy).
The former dominant party in Philippine politics remains a force to reckon with. The group has 3 incumbent senators, 14 incumbent governors, and 28 incumbent members of the House of Representatives.
The Lakas-CMD was also recognized by the COMELEC as one of the “major parties” this coming May 2013 elections. The party lost narrowly to UNA as the dominant minority party.
The party is also set to announced 4 more senatorial bets next week to make the list into 10 senatoriables and giving their local candidates to endorse 2 more candidates in their localities to complete their Magic 12.
Some of the possible senatorial bets who will be included in the Top 10 List of Lakas-endorsement were Loren Legarda, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, evangelist Eddie Villanueva and Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn.
