Pope Benedict XVI to Resign on February 28, 2013

A news updates from the Vatican shocks the Catholic world as Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi announced that the Pope will resign this coming February 28, 2013 according to a news report from AFP.

The Vatican spokesman Lombardi told the AFP, that Pope Benedict XVI will resign. The announcement was made on Monday, February 11, 2013.

Federico Lombardi was quoted as saying that “The pope announced that he will leave his ministry at 8:00 pm (1900 GMT) on February 28,” said the spokesman, Federico Lombardi.

As of this posting there’s no complete information regarding the reasons of Pope Benedict’s resignation from Office as the head of the world’s dominant religious group the Roman Catholic.
