Smart Gilas 2.0 ended the Philippines title drought in one of Asia’s major basketball tournament, the Jones Cup by defeating the multi-title American team and captured the 34th Jones Cup Title.
For the very first time the Philippines dominant in basketball resurrect, it was the fourth championship for the Philippines after the PBA-bound squad Philippine Centennial team captured the crown way back the year 1998.
The Philippines was lucky enough to get the service of the smallest guy for the Philippines, the 5 foot 8 LA Tenorio, made the most important basket of the game to take the lead from the Americans in a game which ended with the final score at 76-75.
