Philippine Azkals football player, Phil Younghusband was already here in the Philippines from London after his meeting with the Chelsea Football Club. According to the latest interview last Saturday July 28, the Azkals’ most popular player told the press about his momentous meeting with the UEFA Champions League Title-holder for two weeks.
Phil was quoted as saying that, “I was there to meet with the Chelsea Football Club because they’re going to put up a Chelsea football school here in the Philippines.” he said.
He adds further that “We had a meeting with Chelsea about the plans for the school, and I also had to sort out some personal things over there.” Phil stated.
Last May 15, 2012 during the successful summer camp of the Younghusband Football Academy at the SM Mall of Asia, the Younghusband brothers formally announced the possible opening of the Chelsea Soccer School in the Philippines.
According to Phil they have envisioned during their early days in England to put up a school in the Philippines patterned before the successful Chelsea Football Academy, where the two footballers have graduated which was formally materialized.
The putting up of a football academy in the Philippines way ahead of schedules or even the facts that the Philippines is still raw in terms of football popularity but, Chelsea invested their resources in the country.
The academy have approached the Younghusband brothers and discussed about their interest of starting a school in the Philippines which also proves how football has come along in the Philippines. The goal of the academy is to create opportunities for kids and youngsters to have a formal training in professional football.
As of these moment the representatives from Chelsea were planning the venue of the upcoming football school in the country managed by one of the world’s most popular organization, the Chelsea Football Club.
The Chelsea Football Club School in the Philippines is the third remote campus of the Chelsea Football Academy in Asia, two of these clubs were located in Malaysia and Hongkong.
