Hunt for Palparan, Reyes Brothers and Ecleo Intensified by the PNP

Director-General Nicanor Bartolome of the Philippine National Police ordered the police operatives in the entire Philippines to intensify the hunt of the country’s most popular fugitives which includes, retired military general Jovito Palparan; former Palawan governor Joel Reyes and his brother Coron Mayor Mario Reyes; and Dinagat Islands Rep. Ruben Ecleo Jr.

The PNP Chief was quoted as saying that “I have already ordered even the regional directors and provincial commanders outside Mindanao to help us in this effort, this is part of our intensified operations to get them” Director-General Bartolome stated during a press briefing on Sunday.

The intensified manhunt operations of the Philippines most wanted fugitives were already ordered and the different members of the PNP, Philippine Army and other government institutions were given the orders to help in capturing the four most prominent accused in the Philippines.

The top four fugitives in the country were all prime suspects of different cases filed against them. The three wanted fugitives, Palparan and the Reyes brothers have in fact will issue a bounty for their immediate capture.

Wanted fugitive Ruben Ecleo Jr., is one of the most influential figure in Mindanao especially in the island of Dinagat in Surigao. He was the son of the Philippine Benevolent Missionary (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation founder. Ecleo was sentenced Cebu Judge Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 10 Soliver Peras for his murder of wife Alona in 2002 at Cebu City.

The Reyeses on the other hand were the prime murder suspects of the killing of Palawan environmentalist and journalist Doc Gerry Ortega, one of the vocal reporters who campaign for the anti-mining endeavors of the people of Palawan. The journalist was being killed but his advocacy continues until today with millions of signatory on the online campaign for the No-Mining in Palawan.

Meanwhile the elite and most experienced military man who was wanted by the PNP could also be the most difficult, retired general Palparan is wanted for the disappearance of University of the Philippines (UP) student-activists Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeno in 2006.

With the connections of Palparan in the military and his knowledge regarding the military operations he is one of the most difficult to be captured as admitted by the Philippine National Police.
