With more than 9.9 million peopled liked the application which gives the application a permission to access your Facebook information, Jason Zada’s “Take This Lollipop” became the world’s fastest growing Facebook Application.
The application is an interactive video that was launched two weeks prior to the Halloween celebration but still continues to haunt millions on the internet. The application when liked will take you to a blue lollipop which appears on the screen and when clicked will take you down to an eerie hallway.
Jason Zada with the collaborative efforts of his production company, Tool of North America and developer Jason Nickel had completed the interactive video in four weeks. Zada and his team threw the script together in 30 minutes. It is a side project for Halloween.
According to Zada when interviewed regarding the “Take This Lollipop” app he stated that “I just wanted to scare people. It’s kind of a horror movie that has no blood, no guts, but there’s this person that you don’t want looking at your information,” says Zada. He adds further that “That to me was the scariest ofall.” Zada stated.
People who had tried to clicke the application have shared their experienced by making videos and posted it on YouTube which surp(–foul word(s) removed–)ed the targets of Zada’s team that the video will only be viewed by 100,000 people.
With the advent of the application and the growing number of people who were interested with “Take This Lollipop” app in Facebook. People were concerned regarding the privacy of each individual who had already tried the application.
One of the main concern was the carelessness of people to try the lollipop only to be scared while watching the video never minding their privacy. Trying to convince each other to try the app is not the issue but the issue is that you know that the app will scare but still it is curiosity that prevails.
Jason Zada was also the man behind the viral online campaign for Office Max “Elf Yourself” which made it a total of 164 million views.
