Famous British boxer Ricky Hatton attempted to end his life after suffering from too much depression on losing a fight with the Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao.

It was recalled that in May 2009, Pacquiao won another victorious title against Hatton who was reportedly knocked down during their fight.

At 32, Hatton decided to end his boxing career. Reports flooded last July 2011 declaring that Hatton finally retired from boxing.

Depression urged Hatton to consider suicide according to the reports released by the BBC on Thursday. He got addicted on alcohol and drugs based on the statements he said in a media interview. In the previous years, he battled against the harmful effects of drugs and alcoholic drinks.

Misery filled Hatton’s thoughts as he kept on thinking about his second-round knockout in Las Vegas in a fight with the pound-for-pound boxer, Manny Pacquiao few years ago.

It was probably considered to be Hatton’s saddest moment leading him into terrible depression. For that reason, the former light-welterweight champion cried thinking about his loss.

The 32-year-old boxer started having a few drinks. The worst thing is that he got himself involve with too much alcoholic drinks in the later part of his life.

However, the very definite reason why he did such things was depression. The same reason also drove him to think about having a suicidal attempt.

After having been defeated by Pacquiao, Hatton considered depression to be a serious thing and said that coping up with it was very hard.

At present, the retired British boxer runs his own promotional company which is called the “Hatton Promotions”.
