Saudia Arabia to allow women to vote and to run for an office

Saudi Arabian Woman to be allowed to voteChanges are inevitable.

Principles, things and even policies changes as people would try to further explore the vast world.

And coping with the changes is Saudi Arabia as its 87 year old King Abdullah had announced a very big change. And that was the news that for the first time in their ultraconservative nation, women, would now be given the chance to cast their votes and even to run for a position in the local one and can even serve in the king’s advisory board which is called the Shura Council.

This moved taken by the King is still in line with the proposed changes that he had been aiming even before he took the set. Mixed reactions were received regarding to the announcement. Saudi Arabia, as being known to be an Islamic country does not allow women to go out from their homes without a veil in their face, but this new announcement would improve the standing of Muslim woman.

King Abdullah was known for his vision to cater reformation under his leadership. In fact, according to www.latimes.com, it was under his leadership when Saudi Arabian women were given chances to study outside their country through scholarships. In fact 120,000 students had availed the scholarship. He had imposed such programs even if it was being opposed by some members of the royal family and critics in Saudi Arabia.

This new reform would take effect next year and is expected to create both positive and negative impacts. For now, supporters for the move are celebrating while those who are against are of course expected to flood the move with criticisms.

At present, many countries especially in the much democratic regions like in Europe and America and even in many parts in Asia are already allowing women to take part on the political side of each nation.

Just this very recent, Newsweek Publication in America had issued a survey and ranking about the Best Country for Women in the world which was taken from 165 nations wherein one of the branches and division that was being considered for the ranking was the woman’s status when it comes to politics.

Two Asian countries make it to the top, the Philippines ranked number 17 and was able to make it to the top 20, while China took the 23rd spot. Iceland had led the ranking and was considered to be the Best Country for Women.
