There is no other place like home and it is always good to be home.

After 6 weeks of living away from its safe zone as it was being cared at Wellington Zoo, the Emperor Penguin that had captured the world through its amazing journey would be sent back to its colony in the Antarctic with a big plus.

“Happy Feet” the name coined to this amazing penguin had been creating big news and attracted followers not just the media men but also those people within the cyber world.

Its name was taken from the 2006 hit animated movie wherein the prime characters were penguins.

It was seen and rescued June 20 in Peka Peka Beach, which is Northwest of Wellington, which was eventually brought to Wellington Zoo due the illness it had been suffering. Happy Feet became sick after it had eaten sand. It was thought that Happy Feet had mistaken sand as snow for emperor penguins usually fed themselves with snow.

On August 29, Happy Feet is set to be released heeding back to Antarctic with an attached GPS tracker on its back in order to closely monitor its progress as it return to its habitat.

Aside from that, Happy Feet might not be longer staying on the Wellington Zoo wherein monitoring camera was installed in order for spectators to view Happy Feet’s routine even if it would only be eating, sleeping and occasionally waddling via internet.

Through the GPS tracker, those more than 120 followers of Happy Feet online can still be up to date with what is happening even if it was back to its natural habitat.

The GPS tracker would serve as an eye linked to the websites where followers waited for what’s next with Happy Feet .

The last time that an Emperor Penguin was cited in New Zealand happened way back 1967.

Happy Penguin’s appearance in New Zealand had caused New Zealander and the world amazed.
