
Death toll in Norway bomb explosion now reaches to 87 according to the latest updates delivered by New York Times and CNN early on Saturday.
At first, there were at least 80 people declared dead but there were seven individuals that were also killed adding the number of death toll few moments after the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive explosion occurred in Oslo.
Just on Friday, the news broke saying that Norway was attacked twice with a powerful explosion citing Oslo’s main government center and then followed by an incident where an armed man stalked a group of young people aging from 16 to 22 who happen to have a summer camp in the Norwegian island of Utoya.
Explosions destroyed Oslo which was previously considered to be an organized Scandinavian capital. Many buildings have been caught on fire and were eventually destroyed.
Residents panicked upon hearing the sudden explosions that even the office of the Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg of Norway had experienced the fearful blast originated from the upper floor of a main government center.
Fortunately, the Norwegian prime minister was not in his office so he was able to avoid possible injuries. However, his office was severely damaged.
Meanwhile, the reported summer camp’s venue was in Utoya Island which is known to be around 19 miles away from Norway’s capital. It was noted that the camp gathered 700 people that is mostly dominated by the youth from the presiding Labor Party.
Policemen suspected that a Norwegian man reported to be 32 years old was arrested by the police authorities. The suspect was identified to be Anders Behring Breivik. He was subjected for detention when he matched the identity they spotted before Oslo blasts happened.
Further investigations with the suspect are currently being handled. The police stated that the Norwegian man on a blue sweater clad as if he was a police officer opened fire after heading his way towards Utoya island summer camp. Campers testified that the man came on the site through a boat and said that he was due to have security check.
Soon, the gunman began to shoot people. Terrified campers panicked as they tried their best to escape. They even jumped into the water and hide from the bushes. Most of them were not able to leave the place right away. That shooting incident caused many people who have been wounded and even led to a number of deaths.
A TV broadcast handled by the country’s local media stated that there were seven others who were killed in Oslo while leaving 15 injured individuals when the powerful blast occurred. Speculations rise that this could be another act of terrorism attack. Oslo Mayor Spokesman known to be Erik Hansen added further information saying that there were 90 individuals who were rushed to the nearest hospital.
For Oslo Mayor Fabian Stang, the dual attack last Friday is considered to be a dreadful incident for the people of Norway. Even William Hague who is the British Foreign Secretary released a statement condemning the dual attacks occurred in Oslo.
