As the result of the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive campaign and hunting for the people responsible for the chain of hacking activities happening early this year that had affected several well-established sites may it be on corporation, online game creators, financial establishment and even news sites, authorities in the United States, Britain and the Netherlands had captures and arrested more than 20 suspected persons.
Two of the hacking groups who had rise to fame are the now disband “Lulz Security” and the “Anonymous.” This groups are also known to be “hacktivist.”
According to the reports published on bbc.com, out of the more than 20 arrested personnel, 16 of them were arrested in the US through the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Fourteen people were cited to be responsible behind attack for the PayPal as mentioned by FBI and the attacked for Pay Pal was claimed by Anonymous. The distribution of arrested people were one in Britain who is still a teenager while in Netherlands, four people were captured.
The boom of the hacking activities early these months had brought threats to various sectors and company all over the globe. One of the considered “high-profile” attack was that of the chain attacks for Sony Corporation which had lead to millions of information to be put at risks.
Some of the attacks that were indeed notable were that of the Sony Playstation Network, Nintendo, and even that of the Citigroups.
Recently, after spearheading cyber attacks to high profile organizations, LulzSec, the group of hackers which usually launched cyber attacks just for fun had announced that they are to separate ways and the 50-days of their journey together had come to an end.
Following that announcement, they had asked their fellow hackers including Anonymous to continue the goal they had set.
Both the FBI of the United States and the Scotland Yard in UK are just two of the investigating bodies that are determined enough to trace the responsible for the hacking series.
