Fukushima beef: plans to be banned in Japan

Fukushima BeefBeef products from Fukushima and its nearby place is eye to be banned for shipment as to the recent findings that these beef are being taken from cattle’s which were fed with feeds having radioactive caesium.

This latest plans had followed to the announcement weeks ago by Prime Minister Kan that the cleaning process for the nuclear plant damage in Fukushima might take years even decades.

Impacts of the quake and tsunami happened last March is still alarming and causing changes to the lives and economic status of the people in Japan. The threat which is being added by the radioactive meltdown that had happened in Fukushima nuclear plant still grows.

Since the nuclear plant is still in the cleaning process, the chances of radiation to continue to spread is bigger

Based on the report published from bbc.com, it was said that there were 136 determined cows which is said to have consumed feeds with radioactive caesium.

This announcement of banning the said products is a way of securing the health status of the people.

No fatalities were recorded as to the start of the threats brought by the radioactive emission and meltdown of the nuclear power plant in Fukushima.

But due to the earthquake and tsunami, more than 15,500 were reported dead while there were still more than 5000 people who were still missing.

The beef from Fukushima is already being transported and distributed to the different places in the country and is already reaching the market.

Authorities are finding ways and creating measures in order to trace those beef. Aside from the supply of beef, the supplies of vegetables are also being monitored and in some areas, the vegetables especially those coming areas near Fukushima are being hold due to the possibility of higher radiation content.
