The first leg of the game between Philippine Azkals and Sri Lanka Brave Reds was a draw with a final score of 1-1.

The game which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka at Sugathadasa Stadium with a seating capacity of 25,000 people was attended by several football enthusiasts in Sri Lanka and Filipino fans who came to support the team Azkals.

Sri Lanka made the first point in the first half of the game and was done by player number 7 Midfielder Chathura Gunarathna of the brave reds during a free kick while the point of the Philippines came from Filipino-American Nate Burkey during the second half of the leg.

Team Azkals of the Philippines tried several attempts to score on the first half of the game but the defence of Sri Lanka team was too tight to surp(–foul word(s) removed–).

Star player of Azkals Phil Younghusband throw several kicks to give a lead to the team however he failed, he was then brought to the bench by the Azkals coach before the end of the first half after he felt something at the back of his leg.

Both of the teams earned three yellow cards in the game but all in all analyst said that this is a good match for the Azkals knowing that the second leg of the 2014 World Cup Asian Qualifiers will be held in the Philippines this coming July 3, 2011 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
