ESPN releases the list of the athletes nominated for the Best Fighter award in the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly or ESPY. Once again the very own boxing champ of the Philippines and pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao is nominated in the prestigious award.

Also in the list of the candidates for the award is boxer Bernard Hopkins who just recently stole the title as the oldest heavy weight champion to George Foreman.

While boxer Sergio Martinez is also nominated after it has gained its popularity this year for his remarkable wins against two fighters Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik.

For the world of UFC or Ultimate Fighting Championship, two athletes were also nominated and these are Jon “Bones” Jones and George St. Pierre.

If Manny Pacquiao will win the award, this will be his second time to receive such honor after he was also recognized with the same title in 2009 while his closest rival in boxing Floyd Mayweather Jr. got this award in 2010.

The awarding ceremony will be on July 13 to be held in Nokia Center in Los Angeles. Fans who wanted to vote can visit the official site of ESPN which is the ESPN.com where they can see the complete list of the nominees.

According to some experts their will be a close fight for who will win the award between Pacquiao and two MMA fighters Jones who won his fight this year against Maurico Rua and St. Pierre who has an undefeated record since 2007.
