President Benigno Aquino III is definitely not in favor of divorce. After the House of Representatives had proposed the Reproductive Health Bill, officials are yet to debate another significant issue which is the divorce law.

Christianity values the sanctity of marriage. In this cause, the President being a Christian himself goes with that belief. For him, families should unite for a harmonious relationship.

Aquino emphasizes the importance of the family as a whole. This view goes along with what the Catholic Church imparts to its people.

Since misunderstanding is inevitable, President Aquino also has that concern among the broken relationships which may not be fixed especially those couples who seem to find it difficult to unite due to personal circumstances. While these kinds of issue exist in reality, Aquino stated that the present administration may not prioritize divorce law at this point of time.

He said that there are some other things that need more attention such as generating jobs that will answer unemployment issues. He also mentioned concerns regarding education, judicial reforms as well as the health issues. After citing those topics, he also announced that the government is already taking actions on that.

Furthermore, Aquino considers that relationships which happen to be beyond repair must be faced with wise possible approaches suggesting that couples should be given ample time to discuss about the possible separation. Breaking marriage vows should undergo through a very extensive process so as to ensure decisions for both parties.

Meanwhile, Senator Francis Escudero also voiced out his opinion regarding the proposed divorce law in the country. Escudero raise his support that divorce should be legalized in the Philippines.

Sen. Escudero further suggests for a more affordable process. He observes that only the wealthy citizens are capable for annulment as poor citizens don’t seem to enjoy such privilege.
