Lulzsec the hackers who are behind the attacked on PBS websites had infiltrated another company this time one of Japan’s technology company, Sony Pictures Website. For the past few weeks Sony was struggling in restoring their playstation website that had been attacked and members p(–foul word(s) removed–)word where stolen. Now another hacking incidents happened that put more shame to the Sony Inc.
According to the press release stated by the Lulzsec they were able to breached the easy security by Sony Pictures. They claimed that they had already accessed the database of Sony Pictures and stolen thousands of security datas.
Lulzsec was able to compromise more than 1,000,000 users information, they stated also that they had acquired coupons around 3.5 millions of coupons. They even posted the coupons on Mediafire.com for downloads but right now the file is inaccessible for copyright violations.
Sony Pictures admitted on June 02, 2011 that they were under hacked attacked but declined to gave further details. The attacked on one of the most reliable technology company was a breached on security. It was just a sign of how Sony invested on their internet security. What is more important issue here is the statement made by Lulzsec that they were just using a simple SQL injection for the said attacked.
Here are some of the list of data at risk and they managed to stole at Sony, according to the Lulzsec website:
- 12,500 users related auto trader or contest entrants
- 21,000 ID’s labeled “beauty users”
- 3.5 million music coupons
- 65,000 Sony Music codes
- Tablets from Sony Netherlands and Belgium
With the attacked Sony Incorporated was one of the most prominent technology companies that was compromised on series of hacked attacked around the world. Hopefully the other giant technology companies would make more measures to protect the privacy of its members.
