Miami Heat, the team mentored by Filipino-American Erik Spoelstra posted its first win against the Dallas Mavericks for Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Miami had outscored the visiting Mavericks to lead the series 1-0 and a possible repeat of their 2006 Finals four game winning streak. The final score for game 1 was 92-84 held last Tuesday (US Time) held at the American Airlines Arena.

The Heat continued their dominance at home scoring a total of 9-0 during this post season and the second game will be held also at the same venue this coming Thursday. After their two games at home the Heat will then visit the Dallas Mavericks for the next games.

2006 MVP Dwayne Wade leads the Miami Heat by unleashing his extraordinary talent, he had a total of 22 points, 10 rebounds and six (–foul word(s) removed–)ists. LeBron James added with a game high 24 points on 9 of 16 field goal shooting. Heat overpowered the Mavericks in the three-point range with a 45.8 percent compared to 40.9 percent.

In the rebounding department there was a surprising numbers, Miami had outrebounded the Dallas Mavericks although there were three 7 footers in Mavericks’ line-up. Heat dominated the boards with 46-36 rebounds including the 16-6 offensive rebounds. They were using their quickness and mobility to get the loss ball.

Dallas Mavericks scoring came from the ever reliable Dirk Nowitzki with 27 points and 8 rebounds.
