Typhoon Chedeng Continue to Intensify as it Enter the Philippines

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the agency that monitors the weather in the country has officially announced that “Chedeng” have already become a Typhoon and getting stronger as it approaches the land.

In the latest report of Pagasa Typhoon “Chedeng” carries a wind of 130kph near its center with a gustiness of up to 160kph and is expected to pour out heavy rains as it gains strength due to its slow and almost stationary movement.

Some areas in the country were already given a public signal by the weather bureau and this includes Signal Number 2 for Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Camarines Norte andover the three Samar provinces and Signal Number 1 for areas in Masbate, Marinduque, Burias, Ticao Islands, southern Quezon, Polilio Island, Northern Leyte and Biliran.

People living in such areas were given warnings of possible landslide or flashflood especially those in low lying areas as typhoon Chedeng p(–foul word(s) removed–) the country.

One of the chief forecaster of Pagasa, Graciano Yumul advised the public to postpone any travelling plan, stay indoors and follow instructions given by their officials to avoid any accident to happen.

Pagasa is now worrying to the possibility that typhoon “Chedeng” will bring as much rain as the past typhoon “Ondoy” did in 2009, in which many people died that reached to 400 people due to flood that almost covered  80 percent of Metro Manila.

But Pagasa rest (–foul word(s) removed–)ured that they will give an update to the public time to time and said that its too early to predict that Typhoon Chedeng would be as strong as Ondoy’s intensity.

As of Today, residents living near coastal and mountain areas in Albay provinces, Sorsogon and Catanduanes have already evacuated as advised by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

Typhoon Chedeng is expected to be 170 km east northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar, by Thursday morning.
