A photo of Daniel Espinosa Oyanin  was released by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Monday. The suspected driver from the Universal Guiding Star bus who was allegedly responsible for the untimely demise of veteran journalist Chit Estella believed to be hiding somewhere in Taytay, Rizal.

MMDA earlier had offered a reward of P100,000 reward for the information of Espinosa’s whereabouts. The bus driver fled from the scene after the incident that took the life of UP professor and veteran jounalist Chit Estella along the tagged killer highway in Quezon City.

Estella was killed in a road accident involving a taxi and two buses. The first bus sideswiped the taxi’s side mirror while the other rammed the back of the taxi where the journalist was riding. The journalist was declared dead on arrival at the General Miguel Malvar Medical Foundation Hospital.

The remains of Estella-Simbulan will be cremated Tuesday morning at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City. Her funeral was also trooped by colleague in the media and her students and faculty members from the University of the Philippines.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on their part had already suspended the Universal Guiding Star Bus Line while the investigation was on going. Despite the suspension there were allegations that the bus company was still flying their routes along EDSA.

With the death of Simbulan along Commonwealth Avenue the MMDA had pushed new road measures to minimized if not eliminate the accidents along the killer highway. MMDA’s proposals includes a regular salary for bus drivers. A unified ticketing system will be implemented. Acquisition of high tech equipment. The driver should be under TESDA’s constant monitoring. MMDA had already implemented a 60kph speed limit along Commonwealth Avenue.

Meanwhile with the continued manhunt of Espinosa, MMDA chairman Tolentino was calling the attention of his relatives to support the police investigation and give some details regarding the whereabouts of Espinosa for the case to be solved as early as possible. Espinosa will face possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

The first bus involved in the accident was now being tracked by the Quezon City Police District. Further details regarding this case was not yet released by the MMDA or the agency involved with the case.
