After the delay of the Sony Playstation relaunch which was first said to take place this weekend, finally they announced that restoring of its online PlayStation video game network will begin this Sunday.
Restoration phase will first take off in the U.S, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
The firm expects to restore its network fully by the end of May and they are hoping to include Qriocity services.
Sony is in the process of implementing “new and additional security measures” that would insure and provides its user better protection together with their data. This includes putting additional firewalls and an increased encryption levels.
It was April 20 of this year when Sony had discovered the threat in their security resulting to theft of 100 million online accounts and personal data of their members.
Moreover, it took two days for the company to contact the police and it took also almost a week before they informed the people affected causing many of its users to be upset.
Meanwhile, Sony added that Japanese and Asian services is eyed to be fully restored very soon.
Sony’s executive deputy president, Kazuo Hirai said in an interview said that he’d like to extend his sincere apologies for the inconvenience this incidence had caused to the users, and he wanted to thank them for all the kind patience they’ve shown as they worked through the restoration process.
Part of their relaunch is the offering of “welcome back” package that will give users some “premium content.”
He further added that the company is now taking “aggressive action” to resolve issues involving security and that they are making their “consumer protection as a full time, company-wide commitment.”
