A Hasidic newspaper publicly apologized on Monday for digitally deleting an image of US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton from a photo taken while President Barack Obama along with his staff were inside the White House Situation Room observing the raid led by the Navy SEALs that killed Osama bin Laden.

On the original photo, it appears that Clinton sits at the center of the room as she covers her mouth with her right hand. Whereas, at the back of the room stands counterterrorism director Audrey Tomason.

However, the Brooklyn weekly Di Tzeitung observes the rule that no female photos should be printed in their pages for it could be sexually suggestive. In accordance to their religious beliefs and observing the law of modesty in their country, the images of Clinton and Tomason have been removed.

The edited photo was first noticed by a blogger, “Failed Messiah”.

The Orthodox Jewish newspaper published a statement which said that their photo editor has not read the “fine print” (–foul word(s) removed–)ociating that any alteration for the White House photo is strictly forbidden. Eventually, apologies and regrets have been addressed to the White House.

Meanwhile, the White House, where the original photo was taken, was silent about the issue when asked on Monday regarding the doctored photo.
