Officials in Manila have warned citizens not to swim in the polluted waters of Manila Bay because aside from being hospitalized it will also bring you to jail.
Manila Vice Mayor, Isko Moreno is now planning to p(–foul word(s) removed–) an ordinance that will ban people from swimming in Manila Bay.
He warned the citizen of Manila that if someone will not follow the ordinance he or she be brought to jail.
In his interview with the ABS-CBN show “Umagang Kay Ganda”, Vice Mayor Moreno said that they are not being selfish for not letting people to swim in the Manila Bay, they are just worried about the health and safety of the people as Manila Bay is really polluted and it can bring different diseases.
He also added that the verbal warning being made by the city government seems to be not enough for the heard headed citizens of Manila, so he decided to p(–foul word(s) removed–) an ordinance.
As the heat of the summer is getting intense, people are making Manila Bay as an alternative resort to expensive ones which is said to be alarming according to Moreno.
He explained that the waters in the Bay is dirty as three large drainage pipes from Ermita regularly flushes out its contents into the bay carrying different germs and bacteria that could causes different diseases to those who will swim in the bay.
While Dr. Eric Tayag of the Department of Health has also advised citizens not to swim in the Manila and if they does they need to make sure to wash thoroughly to removed all the germs and bacteria in their body.
Meanwhile, the officials of Moreno had opened up sports complexes, to be used by the citizens in Manila if they want to swim and it will be free charge.
