Yevgeny Kaspersky’s (Eugene Kaspersky) son Ivan Kaspersky was kidnapped demanding the party a ransom of $4.2 million. Eugene Kaspersky was known to be a security expert who co-founded Kaspersky Lab, an international company specializing antivirus software.

The said kidnapping occurred when Ivan Kaspersky was walking through a factory area from home to his office at InfoWatch, a Mozcow-based software firm owned by his mother Natalya, who is also a co-founder of Kaspersky Lab.

The criminals is said to have found the information of Ivan Kaspersky from his page on Vkontakte.ru, a social networking site like facebook.com.

After the incident, Ivan Kaspersky’s page was closed from unauthorized users on the said social networking site. The full address which was the cause of the information leaked to criminals was changed using the privacy settings.

It was also said that Ivan Kaspersky moved to other apartment prior to kidnapping. But it was not clear if he provide the full address of his new apartment.

After giving the ransom money, Kaspersky’s son was released as said on this source at Life News.

The kidnapper may have learned that Yevgeny Kaspersky estimated wealth raise up to $800 million earlier this month as told by Forbes Russia.
