The family of the young actor AJ Perez went for decision to donate his cornea to a recipient identified to be Fatima Soriano.
Soriano, 17, had been born blind and was known to be a Marian devotee.
The abs-cbnnews said that both parties have already agreed about the plan of donating AJ’s cornea. A confirmation was set between the actor’s father known as Gerardo Perez and the receiver’s mother named Fely Soriano.
According to Mrs Soriano, it was Thess Gubi of Star Magic who first announced on Sunday regarding the planned donation.
Fatima was a guest for the ABS-CBN talk show Bottomline aired that Saturday. It happened that AJ’s mother was watching the said segment. While Fatima’s story was still fresh on her mind, she received a phone call from her husband saying AJ had just p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed away.
Thankful Fely finds it good knowing that Fatima will be the one to receive the cornea of AJ. She expressed a deep gratitude to the Perez family for choosing her daughter. As of now, cornea transplant is yet to proceed since they are still waiting for the advice of the doctor who will be in charge for Fatima’s operation.
Fatima will undergo a check-up following the Holy Week to make it certain that the cornea transplant is acceptable to the recipient. Meanwhile, the eye bank of Makati Medical Center holds the cornea of the 18-year-old actor AJ Perez.
AJ, his father and four others were inside the van when it collided with a bus resulting to a vehicular accident along McArthur Highway which happened following the actor’s show in Dagupan. The incident took place in Tarlac highway.
