The Lonely Island have announced that they are releasing their second album in May. The album is titled ‘Turtleneck & Chain’ and it will feature a number of A-list artists which include Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj and Akon. The band is trying to team up with more artists for collaborations on songs for the album.
The Saturday Night Live comedy trio (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone) released their first studio album ‘Incredible’ in February 2009. The album included a number of comic hits like ‘Dick in a Box’, ‘Jizz in My Pants’, ‘I’m on a Boat’ and ‘Like a Boss’. For ‘I’m on a Boat’ the band was nominated for a Grammy Award.
The Lonely Island, also known as the Joke Band, announced in October last year on their YouTube Channel that they are planning for their second studio album. The album ‘Turtleneck & Chain’ is set to release on May 10, 2011 in the US and the track listing for the album is not available yet. However, the band has released album’s first single ‘We’re Back’ on April 2 and two songs from the album are debuted on Saturday Night Live as SNL Digital Shorts which are ‘I Just Had Sex’ (featuring Akon) and ‘The Creep’ (featuring Nicki Minaj).
‘I Just Had Sex’ music video was released on 18 December 2010 and it has received more than 65 million views on YouTube in its first five weeks of release. Recently, On March 26, the band has performed their digital short live with Akon at Comedy Awards 2011. The live version will air on Comedy Central on Sunday, April 10.
