MTV announced the nominees of its first Internet-based awards show “O Music Awards” on 5th April and Lady GaGa is on the top of the nominations list along with rapper ‘Tyler, The Creator’ who is also nominated in three categories. Justin Bieber and 13-year-old ? Rebecca Black and Willow Smith are among other nominees.
GaGa is nominated in Most Innovative Artist, Must-Follow Artist and Favorite Animated GIF categories. Tyler the Creator and Kanye West are also nominated for Innovative Artist and Must Follow Artist categories. In Animated GIF category she’ll combat with many other famous artists which include Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, 50 Cent and the latest internet sensation Rebecca Black.
Justin Bieber also received multiple nods and nominated in Best Fan Forum category along with Favorite Animated GIF nomination. His ‘Beliebers’ is nominated under Fan Army FTW category which will award an artist with the most rabid and loyal fan base on the internet. Lady GaGa’s Little Monsters and Rihanna’s Rihanna Navy are also nominated for this category.
Announcing the new kind of show the Executive Vice President of Digital Media for MTV Music and Logo Group, Dermot McCormack, said – “With the conversation at a fever pitch, the time has come to celebrate and award achievements and innovations in this space with an experimental, ever evolving, unorthodox and forward facing event that only MTV Music Group can pull off.”
Winners of the awards will be announced on April 28 in a live hour-long webcast on MTV websites ( like MTV.com, VH1.com and LogoTV.com) and mobile apps. Voting is due to start soon on Awards’ official website OmusicAwards.com and also on several social media outlets.
