Francis Mwamba, a Congolese journalist and the lone survivor of the UN aircraft crash in Congo have already given his initial statement of the accident that took the lives of 32 p(–foul word(s) removed–)engers and crew members of the ill-fated plane that was crashed in Congo.

He was on board the plane after a reporting trip in the troubled east of the country, he told journalists from his hospital bed in Kinshasa on Tuesday, where he remains in intensive care. He was quoted as saying “There was a lot of wind and the plane started to move violently,” he told the moments before the crash, adding that the next thing he remembered was waking up in hospital.

United Nations plane crashed in Congo on Monday leaving 32 people dead with only one survivor. The plane which was operated by Airzena Georgian Airways came from the Eastern City of Goma and heading towards Kinshasha the capital of Congo.

Due to bad weather conditions the Bombardier CRJ-100 jet had missed the runway in N’djili airport in Kinshasa.According to reports  strong thunderstorms and sustained winds of 37 kph during the attempted landing could possibly be the main reasons why the plane had crashed.

The plane crash accident in Congo was one of the worst disaster ever happened to a United Nations Humanitarian Forces. Most p(–foul word(s) removed–)engers of the plane were United Nations Staff and peace keepers. Television footage after the fatal incidents showed the aircraft was almost destroyed.

Congo was one of the most unsafe locations in the world for air travel due to lack of infrastructure. With a total of  19,000 troops, the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo is the world’s largest. The families of the victims were already informed about the incident.

The United Nations Security Council have already expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
