The planned weeding of TV host Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla this coming June 2011 will not happened. In an interview with the head of the National Appellate Matrimonial Tribunal, Lingayen Archbishop Oscar Cruz said that Catholic Church would not allow the couples union.
Not the Muslim rites administered to the couple is the main issue according to archbishop Oscar Cruz, but the Islamic law of having more than one wife.
Like other Christian churches, one is the Catholic Church, the weeding is only for one woman and one man, for a lifetime, and that’s all.
The Christian church could not tolerate this kind of practice because if that happens their marriage will be considered null and void.
The archbishop also said that for a couple to marry in church, both of them know the teaching of God. One man is for one woman. If you think that one man is to two women or three that is the big ‘no.’ says Cruz.
There are also Muslims that this is not their beliefs. But the church states that we should respect Muslim, one, two three wives, but they will also respect the doctrines of the Christian church, Archbishop Cruz said.
The Catholic Church will not approve Mariel and Robin’s weeding even if Robin swears that this is his last marriage.
His first marriage will be reviewed if the marriage will be considered void, but it doesn’t mean to say that if he swears that his second marriage is his last, then this is already settled.
Mariel and Robin should give up their catholic weeding, because I could say that this will be disapproved.
Their announcement that they tied a knot through Muslim rites in August 2010 at the mosque of India surprised the public.
They confirmed that they are planning a Catholic weeding during interview with ABS-CBN, and their bridesmaid will be Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzales. One of the principal sponsors will be the celebrity stylist Pin Antonio.
