Scientist said that “Clean Living”, such as avoiding smoking and eating more healthy foods reduces the possible heart beat problem.

According to United States experts, individuals who can maintain a healthy weight and normal blood pressure and abstain from tobacco have a 57% chance that could avert from atrial fibrillation (AF).

Nearly 15,000 patients where examined in Circulation Journal.

A lot of people are unaware that AF is one of the major causes of heart stroke, and many of those people who have this kind of heart condition are unaware because it often causes very few symptoms.

Study shows that in UK more than 500,000 people are having such kind of heart problem.

People who have this kind of heart problems can be treated with medication to slow the irregular heartbeat and blood-thinning drugs to reduce stroke risk. But latest study suggests those simple lifestyles are better prevention against illness.

“We now know that a significant proportion of all cases of atrial fibrillation can be avoided” Dr. Alvaro Alonso, head of the research team at the University Of Minisota School Of Public Health said.

He also added that if individuals who were able to maintain a normal blood pressure and healthy body weight and didn’t smoke, have a greater chances to reduce their risks for other forms of cardiovascular disease, such as heart disease and stroke.

Based on the study, only 5% of the people have a lifestyle that would be deemed healthy enough to cut their risk of AF.

In a period of 17 years, scientists have noted 1,520 episodes among the participants, and 57% of these episodes were linked to clear risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes or smoking.

860 of these events can be avoided by clean living according to researchers.

According to Dr. Mike Knapton (–foul word(s) removed–)ociate medical director at the BHF,this new study shows that not only we can identify people who have AF it can also be prevented in the first place, with just simple lifestyle.

Dr. knapton also said that the environment also contributes to people in making healthy choices.
