Safety and Security Alert for Expat in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia

Saudi Protests March 11, 2011: OFW's Stay at Home
Group of Filipinos during the Independence Day Celebration

In an e-mail circulated by a group of Filipino organizations here in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. All OFW’s are advised to stay at home or accommodation for the scheduled m(–foul word(s) removed–) protests by Shia here in the Eastern Province tomorrow, March 11, 2011.

The e-mail contained strong recommendations to follow strict rules in the Kingdom. Here is a part of the circulated e-mail from concerned Filipino who happens to have contacts with the Ministry of Interior in KSA.

“Sa Huwebes ng gabi kung may gagawin tayo sa labas o pupuntahan agahan na lang natin para makauwi agad dahil may curfew at sa Biyernes kailangan makauwi ng bahay before 1:00pm dahil wala ng palabasin after this time. All should stay in their houses or accomodations.”

The e-mail contained also an attachment of statement from the Ministry of Interior regarding the issue. It is highly recommended to disseminate the information to all OFW’s especially those who are working here in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

As a member of one of the largest Underground Christian Movement here in the Eastern Province I have a personal copy of the said e-mail. I hope and pray that the circulated e-mail will reached to all the expats here in Saudi Arabia.
