Anti-government protesters keep on crying for political reforms in Oman where one was killed and 20 have been injured according to the Oman’s health minister.
Tear gas and rubber bullets were used by the police authorities to be able to disperse hundreds of Sohar demonstrators.
Protests have been intense regarding the plea for the increase of their salary, better employment opportunities and fight against political corruption.
There were about 2,000 people who joined the protests. Most of them were young men who gathered in towns to raise the demands. Public voices have awakened the media not just through verbal actions. In fact, Attacks on vandalism has been widespread in both public and private establishments. Some of it were shopping malls and eateries.
Meanwhile, these anti-government protesters were reported to set fire on truck that carries petrol.
Dubai and Muscat’s truck have been carrying goods. However, they were stranded on roads in the sense that the major roads of the port city were almost sealed off.
Even Sohar’s leading banks had decided to temporarily stop their banking transactions. Likewise, the declaration of holiday was set earlier by the schools because of the fear of that violence is still going elsewhere within the said country.
In addition, vehicles owned by the Sohar Development Bureau have been burned so they decided to remain close.
Some demonstrators have been arrested and Muscat’s military logistics were there to extend their help in controlling the crowds and isolating protesters off the main roads.
Protesters are seemingly unsatisfied with the decrees set by their government according to Basma al-Rajhi, a political activist in Oman.
Violence will keep on surrounding the place, as demonstrations acted by the protesters will keep on bringing them. Problems in the economy will not be fixed until the views of both sides will be given careful analysis and understanding. When the voices of the country men will be given attention without personal favor, solutions for the country will be formulated. With peace, political and social compensations will be provided equally in a gradual manner when government’s power will then be exercised with fairness.
