Dennis Orcullo of the Philippines have once again proven his worth as one of the best billiard player in the world even climbed to the highest rank of the sport that was dominated by Filipinos worldwide. He added another achievement to his career by beating Neils Feijen of the Netherlands to captured the World 8-Ball Championship crown.
Dennis Orcullo the former gold medalists of Guangzhou Asian Games had a rough ride before reaching the finals. He had been into tough battles against those equally talented individuals. However the Filipino pride had managed to kept his composure and focus on his way to the finals.
The former world number 1 pool player have defeated Stephen Cohen, with a 9-0 score; p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed through Shane Van Boening, with a score 9-4; silenced Takthi Zarekthani 9-2 and demolished 9-2 in the quarterfinals and finally dominated Spanish David Alcaide of Spain in the semis.
Orcullo’s victory at Fujairah Exhibition Center in Fujairah UAE have been closely watched by thousands of Filipinos in the Middle East who have thronged to the venue for support to the Philippine pride. Despite of his remarkable performance he had been into neck to neck battle against veteran Vincent Facquet. It is one of his difficult games in the entire series.
The championship round between Orcullo and Feijen was considered by billiard enthusiasts as a rematch for the two cue artists. They have been fighting before in the championship of 2006 World Pool League in the U.S.A. Orcullo prevailed during that time. Feijen tried to avenge his defeat but he could not match the impressive talent of Orcullo.
