Philippine President Benigno Aquino III was calling President Hu Jintao in China for the last time effort to save the life of the three Filipino “drug mules” from final death execution in China or for possible decrease from death penalty to life sentence.
“But until now, the China government does not give any indication to signify willingness to accept the phone calls,” said the President Aquino.
“It is now the right time for the Chinese government to demonstrate and prove their pronounced statements regarding China-Philippines improved and getting closer bilateral ties. This will be a test” President Aquino told the reporters.
On Wednesday night at press time President Aquino was conferring with the Vice President Jejomar Binay at the Palace.
The President said, “I wrote a letter to Chinese leaders sometime in August last year appealing to for possible commutation from death penalty sentence to life imprisonment, that was very, very, reasonable.”
“I was calling the Chinese leaders since Friday but I receive no response. I might send Vice President Binay as emissary to talk how important for us to have commuted the death penalty to life imprisonment” said President Aquino.
The three Filipino would be the first Philippine nationals to be executed in the nation of China.
The three Filipino were convicted in separate smuggling heroin in China sometime in 2008. Villanueva and Credo were caught with more than 4,000 grams of heroin and 6,800 grams seized from Batain, said Department of Foreign Affait (DFA).
On Monday will be the execution for Ramon Credo, 42-year, a father of 5-children and Sally Ordinario – Villanueva, 32-year a mother of 2-children. On the following day Tuesdays will be the execution for Elizabeth Batain, 38-year. The execution for Credo and Villanueva will be done in the city of Xiamen and in Shenzhen for Elizabeth Batian on the following day.
