Jeopardy one of the longest running game show in U. S. television history features man against machine battle of intelligence. For the first two rounds the supercomputer Watson of IBM have dominated the game against two of the greatest Jeopardy players in history.
Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter represents the human race in a battle against the supercomputer Watson. Watson was developed by International Business Machine, one of the leading computer manufacturer in the world.
Ken Jennings have become famous in Jeopardy for he holds the records of longest winning streak by a player and America’s all-time leading money winner in any game show. Jennings was a Guinness World Record holder as most cash won in a game show. The 74 time Jeopardy champion bowed out of contention against Watson.
Brad Rutter on the other hand was a 20 time Jeopardy champion. He even defeated Ken Jennings for the ultimate tournament of champions. He had won three unprecedented Jeopardy titles, Tournament of Champions, Million Dollars Tournament of Champions, and the Ultimate Tournament of Champions.
Watson was powered by 90 32-core IBM power 750 express servers and 16 terabytes of memory. It was powered by DeepQA software which runs hundreds of simultaneous algorithmic calculations.
For two days the total amount of winnings was largely dominated by Watson having accumulated a total of $35, 734; Ken Jennings had a total of $4,800 and Brad Rutter had $10, 400. The final results will be released on wednesday, February 16, 2011 American Time.
