Spokesperson Eduardo Batac of Department of National Defense (DND) admitted that the alleged anomalies and irregularities in the Armed Forces have changed the morale and corrupted the reputation of a good soldier by the revelations of retired Army Lt. Col. George Rabusa during the Senate hearing last week over.

It is very important that essential investigation must be conducted to come up with the truth, he said.

“To involve accusing innocent people who don’t know about the issue of the alleged anomalies is unfair or to come up with a wrong judgment. We want to know the real scenario. We feel very sorry that some of our comrade get involve but we put exception for the honest soldiers who were devoted to their call of duties,” Batac said.

“If the issue is really true rank and file field soldiers should get more support, if that alleged is true. That could be a great help to our mess allowance” said Navy Petty Officer 3 Gilbert Atienza.

4th Special Forces Battallion member Army Sergeant Aldrin Jimenez, echoed Atienza’s point of view.

“Hopefully we can get more benefits to support our family, most especially during the time when we are in far distance from our family” he said.

The wives of Retired Gen. Carlos Garcia and Angelo Reyes were alleged living in luxuries that resented the wives of rank and file soldiers.

After Rabusa’s exposition special investigative body is formed to investigate irregularities and all corrupt military practices involving retired Maj. Gen. Carlos Garcia.

They are required to submit reports after 30 days that is until the end of February.

The investigating body was divided into sub-committees to make the investigation process faster and focus on the specific issues like the alleged “pabaon system” and untraceable US$5 million military fund from UN and others, hoping to solve the issue within the short period of time.

Patrick Veles, chief of Department of National Defense legal services department (–foul word(s) removed–)igned as head to determine the composition of the sub-committees. Ten days were given after formation of the sub-committees to come up with their respective initial investigation reports.

Tomorrow Friday will be the preliminary investigation to be held at the Armed Forces Commission Officer’s Clubhouse.
