As it was expected, International Cricket Council approves Chinna Swami cricket stadium of Bangalaore to replace Kolkata’s Eden Gardens cricket stadium for one of the biggest match of cricket world cup “India vs England”. Event though a switching has been confirmed by the ICC, but still schedule of the match has not be altered and it stays same 27th of February 2011.
Chiefe Executive Officer ICC, Haroon Lorgat says that he is ever ready to work with their plenty of stakeholders and partners to ensure that match (at Bangalore) and rest of the matches of the tournament will commence as planned.
Although the fate of England vs India match at Bangalore has been sealed but ICC has written a letter to Board of Controller for Cricket in India that announced that another inspection will commence at Kolkata, Eden Gardens to insure that whether the stadium will be ready for remaining 3 other matches or not. A deadline of 7th February 2011 has been granted to BCCI to make sure the Eden Gardens is ready for those matches, otherwise ICC will have to switch those matches as well (which maybe a real burden to ICC).
Upon the elimination of Eden Gardens from the list of World Cup 2011 venues, BCCI proposed Bangalore’s chinna swami stadium as alternate -which was later approved by ICC.
So, from disappointing Cricket fans of Koklata now Bangalore’s cricket fans are delighted to know that they will be privileged to see one of the hottest game of the tournament. After the rivalry of India vs Pakistan matches, it is the 2nd most awaiting matches for Indian cricket fan club. The rivalry is actually an outcome from inspiration of Bollywood movie “Lagaan” in which England’s mean, cruel and proud team was defeated by laymen villagers of India in a last-ball thriller test match.
Even though bangalore will host total of 5 matches of cricket World Cup, but definitely India vs England match will be most anticipated match by the local attendees of the city. As we stated above, there are only a few rivalry matches that take place in the cricketing events and one of the current rivalry match will be India vs England at Bangalaore.
Survey says, local folks of Kolkata are literally cursing BCCI for not preparing Eden Gardens for the India vs England match whereas inspite of being delighted they also have all the sympathies for their fellow cricket fans of Kolkata.
