Allan Pineda Lindo Jr. most popularly known as apl.de.ap was a Filipino American member of the Black Eyed Peas. He was a rapper and record producer. The group Black Eyed Peas was composed of Will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo, and apl.de.ap. They will perform at the half-time for the upcoming Super Bowl XLV game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers.
The Super Bowl XLV, with an average of more than 100 million viewers, it is considered as the most watched show in the U.S. The upcoming half-time of Super Bowl will be sponsored by Bridgestone and produced by Ricky Kirshner.
Black Eyed Peas was formed in 1995, six-time Grammy award-winner, multi-platinum recording artists. The group have sold more than 28 million albums worldwide and more than 30.8 million digital tracks. Their latest album was entitled “The Beginning” with the carrier single The Time (Dirty Beat).
Apl.de.ap one of the rapper of Black Eyed Peas was born in Sapang Bato, Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines to a Filipina mother and an African American Father. He was then adopted and brought to the U.S. Together with will i am they formed the group Tribal Nation which was eventually become the Black Eyed Peas.
Allan Pineda incorporate his patriotism with the Philippines by adding some Filipino lyrics in their songs even though it was released in the United States. This Filipino rapper had also worked for philanthropy through the Apl Foundation, it is a way of giving back to the children within the Philippines and to the rest of Asia.
Apl.de.ap in an interview he was quoted as saying. “We thought Oprah was big, but to perform at the Super Bowl where a lot of the greats have performed, I’m getting nervous this time around”. The appearance of a Filipino in one of the most watched television show in the U.S. and with millions of fans watching worldwide will be an awesome feat by a Filipino artist.
