Deadly Explosion Rocks Moscow’s Busiest Airport

Domodedovo Airport Moscow- Explosion

A deadly explosion hits the Moscow’s busiest airport Domodedovo killing 35 people and injuring more than 100 people who are believed to be in critical situation. The explosion is believed to be suicide attack. The investigators say that the explosion is a suicide that occurred in the arrivals hall.

The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said that the people guilty for this attack will be tracked and severely punished. The President ordered increased security throughout the capital across the airports and all other major transport facilities. The President also called an emergency meeting and addressed the situation with high ranked officials. Mr. Medvedev has also postponed his visit at the World Economic Forum at Davos. Domodedovo airport is 25 miles away from the centre of Moscow.

The investigators have further revealed that two Britons were among the dead. Footage of the scene shortly after the attack has been captured from mobile phone and shows the arrival hall filled with smoke. The video also shows bodies speckled throughout the floor. The video has been captured at 1330 GMT.

It is expected that the militants from the Caucasian regions are responsible for this attack. The suspicion falls on these militants. The militants realize that the secure society is among the top most priority of the President and the Prime Minister. The aims of these Caucasian militants try to undermine the hope of the government to keep the society full of prosperity.

Prior to this attack, the Russian capital was also targeted by two female suicide bombers who detonated the bombs on the busy metro system. The suicide attack killed 40 people and injured more than 80 people. The females were believed to belong to Dagestan Region of Russia.

The airport spokeswoman Yelena Galanova said that the explosion occurred at the crowded hallways where everybody has free access irrespective of being p(–foul word(s) removed–)engers. She also said that the hall was full of people since a flight from UK had just landed. She also added that the device used to detonate bomb had an equivalent of 7 kg TNT. The Russian news channel told that the bomber said ‘I’ll kill you all’ prior to the suicide attack.

The aftermath of the deadly explosion has urged President Dmitry Medvedev to establish a commission of inquiry that would conduct on spot urgent investigations. The President said that we have to check how the process of such a suicide has been applied. The perspective behind such a statement is the previous and current bomb attack.

The Russian media reports that police are searching for three suspects. All the outgoing flights from the busiest airport of Russia have been suspended while the incoming flights have been diverted to Moscow’s Sheremetevo airport.
